Preschool-4 November Newsletter
God is Good
God is Great
Let us thank Him for our food.
Dear Parents,
The month of October kept the children busy as they counted down the days to
Halloween! Learning and observing the changes taking place in God’s world
during the season of autumn provided us with so many things to see and do.
Their many art projects filled our classroom and hallways which provided us with
the feeling of “fall” inside as well. Later in the month ghosts, bats and jack-olanterns made for some “spook-tacular” creations as well.
The children are actively learning in the classroom throughout their day. We have
been working on letter recognition and the sounds our letters make. As we
learned about the explorer Christopher Columbus the children experimented by
putting their thinking skills to work to see how many pennies it would take to
sink their boats, which were made out of tinfoil. Estimating how many and then
counting provided some great answers and the activity was enjoyed by all.
Halloween provided us with many fun books to read. “The Very Busy Spider” by
Eric Carle was a favorite along with” The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of
Anything”. We had fun going on a “Spooky Walk” and reciting “Five Little
Pumpkins”. The colors orange and black provided us with silly poems about each
color and a great way to learn how to spell each color word as well. We found how
easy it is to count to number two, but making the number two is quite
challenging! We continue to work on printing our names the “preschool way” and
I am proud of their progress and the effort they put forth.
During the month of November we will focus on Thanksgiving and being thankful
for all that God has blessed us with. Our letters will be F and E. Our number is 3,
the color will be brown and the shape is triangle. The children will also make
cards and flags to send to the many veterans’ who reside at the Holyoke Soldiers
Home in honor of Veteran’s Day. This is our way of saying “thank you” to such
special people.
If your child comes home singing Christmas songs it is for very special reason!
Mark your calendar for Thursday, December 18th . On this day the children will
present a Christmas Music Program filled with songs to make your Christmas
season a merry one. The program will be held in our Parish Center, located in the
lower level of our building. The program will begin at 10:30AM and the children
will be dismissed following the program to enjoy the rest of their day during this
very special time of the year. More information will follow in the coming weeks.
Now that the cooler weather is upon us please be sure to send your child in with a
coat. Please label their name inside as well. I am asking that you please update
their extra change of clothing to one that meets the change of season as well.
During the Thanksgiving holiday I will send their “quiet time” things to be
I encourage you to check our school website for November’s calendar with
upcoming events, days where there is no school and early dismissals. I do post
this information outside the classroom as well.
The children are a happy group building friendships with one another which is a
wonderful thing to see in the classroom. They now have an understanding of their
daily routine throughout their classroom and are eager to know what they will be
doing in each center. They are becoming more confident as young learners and it
so rewarding to see the pride they take in what they are learning.
I would like to wish all my families a very Happy Thanksgiving. I know I am very
thankful and blessed for the wonderful children and their families I have been
blessed with this school year.
