Description of Business Environment:
The Department provides commercial and contractual support on a number of contracts in
a high technology solution department, systems integration and services delivery. The
business portfolio includes a number of high value programmes and complex bid
opportunities with UK government bodies and major commercial organisations.
Specific Job Description:
Responsible for providing leadership, management and direction to assigned department
on a task and objective orientated basis. The successful candidate will assume
commercial accountability and responsibility for assigned line of business/multiple
programmes providing advice, leadership and counsel at all levels with full management
responsibility for his or her staff including career management, assignments, performance
and benefits. The post holder will be expected to be proactive and adopt flexibility in
supporting the evolving needs of the business and ensure that through lower level
subordinates he or she is able to achieve results.
Required Skills:
 Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills to develop and leverage external and
internal relationships
 Ability to develop and take responsibility for implementing innovative approaches
which correspond to the objectives of our customers and the business
 Expertise in leading negotiations, providing expert advice on commercial matters,
managing complex key contracts and identifying and mitigating prime areas of risk
 Proactive and able to work autonomously
 Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills
 High level of commitment and focus on success in a demanding environment
Desired Skills:
 Proven Contract management experience of large scale contracts
 Knowledge of UK Government policies and practices
 Understanding of export control issues
 Excellent business acumen and oral/written communication skills
Standard Job Description:
Negotiates, administers, extends, terminates and renegotiates standard and nonstandard
contracts. Evaluates contract performance to determine necessity for amendments or
extensions of contracts, and compliance to contractual obligations. Maintains
communications to ensure timely contract execution by the parties. Ensures final contract
documents are consistent with agreements reached at negotiations. May plan and
participate in training of contract practices and negotiations to company personnel.
Typical Minimum Education & Experience:
Ideally require a Bachelors degree from an accredited college. Will also consider
individuals with equivalent experience / combined education.
Considered career or journey level.
