They must have the ability to be flexible and find
compromises between differing viewpoints.

City Planners often use personal computers, map
creation software, and Global Positioning System
receivers (GPS).

City Planners usually work in an office, but sometimes
travel to inspect land under considerations for
development. They also attend meetings to discuss
proposals with the citizens of the community.

The majority of city planners work for local
governments. Some work for private companies
involved in architecture or engineering.

Most city planners have a master’s degree and have
worked as an intern in a city planning office before
beginning their first job.

income is $58,000 per year.
