Mother’s Day in Russia

Mother’s Day is celebrated on
different days in different
countries. In Russia, Mother’s
Day is celebrated on the last
Sunday of November. Mother’s
Day in Russia is celebrated with
lots of excitement and fun. The
children prepare special meals
and thank their mothers for
everything.
Mothering Sunday

In the UK, Mothering Sunday is
not a fixed day. Mothering
Sunday is the fourth Sunday of
Lent (Великий пост). Children
often prepare a Simnel cake
(пасхальный пирог), a very rich
fruit cake. It is also common for
the younger children to prepare
their mother breakfast in bed.

St. Valentine’s Day


Day card with a romantic message.



and pelmeni. Families get
together and have a
party, exchange presents.

on the 25th of December
and the most popular holiday
in Great Britain. People
decorate their houses in the
traditional way. A typical
Christmas lunch includes
turkey and pudding. After
the lunch British people go
to the sitting room to listen
to the Christmas speech of
the Queen, shown on TV.
