PROJECTS – ING 204 TOP NOTCH 1
Project 1:
You are going to present a health programme for your school channel and your professor asked you to
interview your partner to find out about their health and exercise habits. Before you interview your partner,
you need to prepare at least 6 questions. Don’t forget: This is going to be a good reference for your future
job!
(min 60 words, 2 minute- recorded video)
Objectives of the Project:
-
to build confidence in speaking in a video presentation by giving a clear 2-minute- rehearsed speech
focusing on the sequencing of steps and grammatical appropriateness
to ask and answer Wh- and Yes/No questions about facts (habits and routines) using the present
simple form of high frequency stative and non-stative verbs,
Steps:
Week 1: The students are given detailed information about the project and the assessment of the project
during class.
The instructor pairs up the students and each pair takes turns being the interviewer and interviewee. Thus,
during the assessment of their performance in the video, they are graded for their performance as an
interviewer as well as an interviewee.
They will be expected to use include the target vocabulary so they are instructed to revise the related words
and expressions. For the following week, they are asked to deliver their videos.
Week 2: The students hand in their work.
Week 3: The teacher returns student work with feedback regarding content (missing information, possible
additional information, etc.) and students are asked to fill in self- reflection forms in 20 minutes of the class
period (They can write in Turkish or English). The students submit their forms to the instructor at the end of
the class hour.
