An appraisal is a formal assessment of an
employee’s performance in fulfilling their job
Most businesses conduct appraisals on an
annual basis by an employee’s line manager
Why do you think that they are important? Write down
5 reasons

An appraisal forms part of the performance
management process – the continuous process
involving the planning, reviewing and
mentoring of employees in order to enhance
their performance

You will each receive a sheet of questions to conduct a peer
appraisal.
Ask your partner the questions and make notes. You may be
asked to feedback a summary of the responses at the end of
the lesson
