ContiTech Showcases Innovative Solutions
for Outdoor Applications at Techtextil
 New dry suit material offers a high level of safety and maximum wear comfort
 Innovative material for floats and buoyancy tubes and flexible designs
 CeraPrene footwear material offers excellent properties for extreme conditions
Hanover, March 2015. A new dry suit material developed by ContiTech offers maximum protection
in and under water. The coated fabric, which features a new surface structure, is extremely
lightweight and elastic but also extremely dense. "Thanks to our expertise and many years of
experience, we have successfully developed in close collaboration with Kallweit – a leading dry suit
company – a product that will allow us to expand our range to include protective suits designed for
water," says Rodrigo Maia, who heads the Engineered Coated Systems segment at ContiTech
Elastomer Coatings. At Techtextil, the company will be presenting itself as a competent
development partner for coated fabrics. In hall 3.0 (stand D32), ContiTech will be showcasing the
wide variety of possible uses for technical textiles.
Another new addition to ContiTech's range is an innovative life raft material. The extraordinary
properties of this exceptionally lightweight, robust, and weatherproof material make it ideal for not
only floats but also flexible buoyancy tubes and other flexible constructions such as tent
substructures. The company is also developing a new fabric for boats, too. "As a well-known
supplier in the field of high-performance materials for recreational and working boats, we want to
expand our product range to include a fabric for rigid-inflatable boats (RIBs)," says segment head
Rodrigo Maia. With their special exterior and interior coating as well as a reinforcing agent made
from high-strength, high-tenacity polyester, these tried-and-tested boat materials from ContiTech
are perfect for use under the most extreme conditions. "We collaborate closely with our customers'
development departments and, thanks to our materials competence and state-of-the-art process
technology, we can offer them tailor-made solutions designed to meet their individual
requirements," emphasizes Maia.

-2ContiTech will be presenting yet another innovation in the field of high-quality footwear material for
the outdoor and hiking segment. Thanks to its outstanding properties, the elastomer-based
material CeraPrene offers optimum wear comfort in any situation and is ideal for safety shoes,
soccer boots, and tennis shoes – in short, any kind of footwear that has to withstand extreme
stress. The material is made from highly resistant, water-repellent, and watertight rubber
compounds, is extremely durable, and boasts minimal wear. CeraPrene also remains highly
flexible even at very low temperatures.
With regard to the U.S. market, ContiTech's elastomer-coated materials for protective suits also
fulfill U.S. fire safety standards (NFPA). Another key benefit of this material is that it offers reliable
protection against chemicals and gases. Highly resistant, media-impermeable barrier layers help to
keep out harmful substances. Its high resistance to acids, alkalis, and aggressive chemicals as
well as its tear resistance ensure the best-possible protection.
ContiTech Elastomer Coatings has an extensive pool of materials at its disposal. More than 300
elastomer coating materials – including special elastomers for extreme application requirements –
and more than 100 textiles with a wide range of different properties and material strengths can be
combined for almost any application, from coated fabric for protective suits or life raft materials
through to tailor-made solutions for completely new areas of application.
Alongside coated fabrics, ContiTech Elastomer Coatings also produces printing blankets, industrial
products, and elastomer sheeting as well as containers for industrial partners all over the world.
The business unit with approximately 600 employees has sites in Germany, China, Japan, Russia,
Singapore, and the U.S.A.
